Jermain Defoe: Bournemouth striker agrees loan move to Rangers, set for medical this weekend
Bournemouthstriker Jermain Defoe has agreed to join Rangers and will undergo a medical this weekend.The 36-year-old will head to the Scottish Premiership club on an 18-month loan deal, playing under his former England teammate Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.2

Defoehas only made four substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Cherries and has only started in the Carabao Cup this season.He will reunite with Gerrard, who has been Gers manager since last summer once the move goes through.It would give Rangers, who are level on points with Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic, significant extra firepower going into the second half of the season.Defoe has scored more than 200 goals in a 20-year career which include spells at West Ham, Tottenham, Portsmouth, Sunderland and Bournemouth, as well as Toronto FC in Major League Soccer. He has also scored 20 goals in 57 appearances for his country.

Defoe is expected to join Rangers on a forthcoming warm-weather training camp in Tenerife during the current winter break.Rangers are also expected to re-sign Southampton’s Steven Davis, with talks continuing over either a loan or permanent deal ongoing.
