Sancho continued to go from strength-to-strength and quickly established himself as one of the academy’s brightest stars. After two years at City, chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak revealed Sancho would be fast-tracked into the senior set-up.However, in July 2017, Sancho was omitted from the pre-season tour squad due to a dispute over assurances of playing time in a new contract. He subsequently began to force a move away from the club. On 31 August 2017, Sancho joined Borussia Dortmund for a reported fee of 8million. The club immediately awarded him the number 7 shirt which had been vacated by Barcelona-bound Ousmane Dembele. He had to wait for his opportunities with Dortmund. Sancho became the first Englishman to play a Bundesliga match for the club when he made his debut in October 2017 against Eintracht Frankfurt. His first goal in professional football came on April 21 earlier this year. He opened the scoring in a 4-0 victory over Wolfsburg, a game in which he also notched two assists. The teenager has become of the most exciting talents in the Bundesliga4
