Everton are RIGHT to back Marco Silva rather than sack him, insists Seamus Coleman
Everton defender Seamus Coleman insists the club have been right to stick by Marco Silva through tough times this season.Despite high expectations and heavy spending, the Toffees have struggled under Silva, and their latest run of just one win in five games has them tenth in the Premier League table.However, the 0-0 draw against Liverpool at Goodison Park on Sunday saw an improved display from Silvas men, as did the 3-0 victory over Cardiff on Tuesday, and Coleman insists the manager needs time.2

Questions have been raised over Silva’s future

You cant just keep chopping and changing managers, it doesnt work, he told talkSPORT host Jim White.I know in todays business thats what people want after four or five bad results, but youve got to give people time to get their own players in and implement their own style of play.There will be good times and bad times. Its going to take a season or a season-and-a-half for managers nowadays to get their own balance right. I think theres far too much hiring and firing in the Premier League at the minute, but I know its a money game.Everton placed a huge dent in Liverpools title bid by holding their local rivals to a draw on Sunday, and the Toffees had chances to win the game.The draw means Evertons seemingly-endless winless streak against the Reds stretches to 19 meetings in all competitions and Coleman admits the curse bothers him.2

Coleman was disappointed not to beat Liverpool

It plays in the back of your mind, he added.Thats why theres still a little bit of disappointment that we didnt get the will. The performance was better but we need to tend to that hoodoo soon.We dont just want to be the team thats happy to disappoint Liverpool. We want to be good in our own right and for too long weve not been challenging for European places and cup finals.But with them being your rivals, you dont necessarily want to see them winning anything either.
