Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has discussed a potential return to Liverpool in the future.Gerrard, who captained the Reds to Champions League glory in 2005, started his coaching career with his former club’s academy before being appointed their Under-18s manager.2

Gerrard joined Liverpool as a youth coach two months after announcing his retirement as a player in November 2016

He left earlier this year to take charge of Rangers from the beginning of the 2018/19 season, taking on his first senior coaching role with the Ibrox club.The 38-year-old’s managerial career has started brightly, with 14 wins and just four defeats in 27 matches, though he did lose his first ever Old Firm derby against Rangers’ fierce rivals Celtic.Since Gerrard revealed his intentions to enter the coaching world Liverpool fans have always wished to see their hero return to Anfield and take the top job, and he has been quizzed on a potential return to Merseyside in the future. Speaking to France Football, as translated by Sport Witness, Gerrard said: “Today, I am very happy to be at Rangers and happy to do this job.“I want to give the best of myself for Rangers.“But nobody knows the future Liverpool is a very special place for me.2

“One day, maybe it will happen or not.”As well as sitting third in the Premiership after 12 games, Gerrard’s Rangers remain in with a chance of qualifying to the knockout rounds of the Europa League. They have, however, been knocked out of the League Cup, losing to Aberdeen at the semi-final stage to miss out on a Hampden Park match-up against Celtic.
