Manchester United’s defeat against Arsenal was “almost irrelevant” because of the quality of their performance, according to former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino.The Red Devils suffered their first Premier League loss under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the Gunners leapfrogged their opponents to move into the top four with a 2-0 victory.2

There were mistakes, they were wasteful in front of goal and Romelu Lukaku missed a golden chance.“But the past two or three months have been extraordinary and this performance was part of something much bigger.”Such has been the incredible revival under Solskjaer, Cascarino says United fans should be ‘optimistic’ about the future and has backed them to be a ‘force’ next season.2

He added: “Im not saying that they will definitely challenge for the title because that is a major ask, but they should be safely in the top four.“They will be a force next year. They need additions but with [Romelu] Lukaku and Marcus Rashford, the more they play together, the more that they are going to scare the lives out of teams.“If I were a United fan, I would be optimistic. It is worth considering, too, that a lot of clubs are having financial issues, which United dont have.“That has been one of their strongest weapons for the past few years and now with Solskjaer, they have a style that is going to be attractive to the top players.”
